The Prince George Hospice Society mission statement is as follows:

Our compassionate staff and volunteers provide specialized end-of-life care in a warm home-like atmosphere.  We meet the needs of our guests, families and community through bedside care, grief support and education.

Many people in the community know the services The Prince George Hospice Society provides in the Hospice House, but many are unaware of the services we provide through our Solace Centre. The Solace Centre, located at 1506 Ferry Avenue directly beside the Hospice House, is where we provide grief support and education services to the loved ones of our guests, as well as anyone in the community going through a difficult time.

A variety of grief and support services are provided through the Solace Centre, these services include:

Coffee for the Caregiver: A drop- in support group for Care Givers of someone with a palliative diagnosis.  Share experiences, support one another, participate in activities that focus on caring for yourself as well and openly discuss any challenges.

Rainbows: An international 13-week program for children and teens to help them grieve and grow after loss.  For ages five thru fifteen years old.  A peer support group led by trained facilitators to meet the needs of each individual child.

Grief and Grub for Guys: An 8-week support group for men including dinner, conversation and an educational aspect.  Men grieve differently, and through that realization, this award-winning program was created to help men understand their own unique grieving process.

Broken Circle: Broken Circle is a 10-week support group for adults (19 and over) who are grieving the death of a loved one. We focus on expressing that your feelings are normal, providing tools to go through the grieving process, and sharing with others who are experiencing a similar journey

Tea Time for the Soul: Tea Time for the Soul is a casual drop in gathering on Monday afternoons from 3:00-4:30 pm, and Saturday Mornings from 9am-11am. Come by to share your story and enjoy a cup of tea.

The Care that Hospice provides does not end in the Rotary Hospice House; we have many trained volunteers and staff that can help you with your individual needs.  If you are interested in joining one of our programs or are looking for more information, please call (250) 563-2551, visit our website, or stop by the Hospice Society Office at 1506 Ferry Avenue. We also have a variety of pamphlets and case notes available regarding the grieving process, free of charge.

We are just a phone call away.  If you need to talk to someone about your concerns, we are here.  We can give you ongoing support, or we can be available for a one-time call.  You are not alone.
