Boyer arrested without incident in Kamloops to end manhunt

KAMLOOPS — Update: Mounties have provided further details regarding the arrest of 41-year-old Kamloops man Michael Shawn Boyer.

Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says members of Kamloops RCMP General Duty, the Police Dog Section, Crime Reduction Unit and Serious Crimes located him at around 2:30 p.m. when the team approached a home on Fortune Drive in response to information Boyer was staying there. Once the house was surrounded, Shelkie says Boyer surrendered without incident.

Earlier in the day, the team seized four firearms (all long guns – two sawed off) at a home on 217 Nelson Avenue. Police say that investigation is ongoing.

Shelkie says police would like to thank the public in assisting the investigation. 

 

Earlier: The Kamloops RCMP have arrested wanted man Michael Shawn Boyer.

Boyer, 41,  was wanted in connection to an altercation that took place Saturday night at the Tournament Inn in Valleyview.

Police allege Boyer produced a handgun, pointed it at the officer and made threats to shoot the officer. The officer then fired his pistol at the suspect.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says he was arrested without incident. No other information is available at this time.
