Terrace Search And Rescue Closer To Getting Facility

Progress continues to the new home of Terrace Search And Rescue (SAR). It was announced yesterday by SAR member Dave Jephson, that SAR had acquired land on Greig Avenue for the building.

Jephson said that right now, there’s equipment in over three different areas, causing severe organizational challenges for the crew when responding to calls. By having this new facility, it’ll provide all the equipment, training and rest under one roof. Training on its own requires a large space in order to do things from tying knots to classroom work.

The new space will also allow members to get some R&R after searches. Jephson says that this will make it a multipurpose place for training, meeting and support for all members.

SAR has sent in an application for a capital project grant offered by BC gaming. Drawing up concept designs and starting a fundraising campaign will be the areas of focus in the new year, added Jephson. Whether it’s big or small, people can contribute to the project by contacting SAR at NewTerraceSARHall@gmail.com.
