Snowbirds, Skyhawks and F-18s at Vanderhoof’s Airshow

Plans continue to take shape for the 2018 Vanderhoof International Airshow over the August long weekend. This past weekend, the Vanderhoof International Airshow Society (VIAS) was hard at work in Las Vegas at the International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) convention. They managed to confirm the attendance of the Canadian Snowbirds, the Skyhawks (the Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team) and the F-18 Demonstration Team. This will be the first time Vanderhoof has been able to schedule the Canadian military for its airshow.

People from the area can mark their calendars to attend on Aug. 4, 2018. Tom Bulmer of VIAS adds that the whole town will be getting involved with numerous activities taking place throughout the day. Aside from the activities, there’ll be lots of concessions for families to enjoy to help compliment their overall experience.

According to Bulmer, Vanderhoof proposed the idea to Quesnel where the Vanderhoof Airshow would be held on the even numbered years and the Quesnel Airshow would happen in the odd-numbered years. Bulmer says the reason for this was because the airshows would be happening in the same geographic location and within a couple weeks apart from each other, so it made sense to alternate on a yearly basis. Quesnel had cancelled their airshow this year because of the wildfires, but they’re expected to host one in 2019.
