Cold Weather Here For Awhile

Dec 27, 2017 | 10:09 AM

It’s cold out there.  And it’s going to stay cold for a while.  Environment Canada says the frigid temperatures in Prince George will be around through New Years.  The weekend is promising highs just in the -20’s.  The overnight lows will be dipping down around -30.  In fact, New Year’s Eve parties should be kept in doors with a low of -34 expected.

Meantime the Arctic outflow warning remains in place for the North Coast including Kitimat and Terrace.  The normal high temperature for this time of year in Terrace is 1.  But today, windchills of -22 are expected.  And on top of that, snow is in the forecast for the next two days.  Drifting snow is a big concern especially along highways through the region.

In Fort St. John, the forecast high for Friday and Saturday is in the -30 range, making any outdoor activities dangerous.

If you think we have it tough, consider what it will be like in Northern Ontario where wind chills are expected to be in the -50 range this week.  Wind chills in Quebec will be in the -40’s.
