Government Announces Funding For Otway

PRINCE GEORGE — On a beautiful, sunny day at the Otway Nordic Ski Club, Municipal Affairs Minister Selena Robinson did something different. She went para-nordic skiing.

“Oh my God! This is great! See ya!,” she shouted to the crowd before heading off on the sit-ski.
Moments earlier she was inside the clubhouse to announce $175,000 to help the Club buy snow-making equipment as it prepares for the World Para Nordic Games in just over a year. It was welcome news to the Club.

“This snowmaking system will allow us to guarantee our season starts early and runs late consistently,” says Club President, John Huybers. “That will provide great access for our members and guarantee we can hold these types of world-class competitions.”

But Minister Robinson wasn’t done there. Acting on behalf of the Tourism Minister, she announced another bundle of funding to the tune of $175,000 to promote the event. But John Huybers says it’s not just about the Club and that one event.
