Ecole Lac des Bois grade 7 students are getting ready for their cross-country trip this week. About 40 kids will live with a host family for one week and they’re required to try and speak French to the best of their ability.  They will participate in cultural activities, eat traditional French-Canadian food, and spend time with their new friends. But it is not all fun and games, the students will be evaluated at the end of each day on their efforts to speak in French. “To actually get that experience to go to Quebec, to see exactly what the language is about, what the culture is about, and becoming fully immersed is what we’re trying to do,” said teacher, Navid Mathiscyk.

The group will take off on Thursday. Later this year, the students from Quebec will arrive in Prince George.
