Fresh off a 6th place finish at her first ever World Cup event this weekend, Prince George’s Tiana Gairns has been named an alternate for Canada’s ski cross team at the upcoming 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Winter Games.

The Canadian Olympic Committee and Alpine Canada officially announced the ski cross team today, which includes 19-year-old Gairns as an alternate.

Gairns was named to the National Development Team in 2016, and finished 3rd overall on the NorAm curcuit in 2017.

Gairns is a graduate of Kelly Road Secondary School and currently attends the University of Calgary.
