KITIMAT — Kitimat RCMP and Search and Rescue responded to a call at 5:45 pm yesterday regarding two stranded snow bikers. They were found in an extremely rough area of Claque Mountain. The two were transported to the Service Centre. No injuries were reported.

Both the Kitimat RCMP and KSAR would like to remind everyone to have avalanche training when venturing out in mountainous terrain.

Should something go wrong, be sure to carry a beacon, probe, shovel, extra dry clothing, GPS, headlamp, fire starting capabilities, fully charged cell phone, candles and hand and feet warmers. It’s also important to have skills such as building a snow cave depending on the situation.
