PRINCE GEORGE – This is a big day for Prince George at the Winter Olympics in South Korea.  Two city athletes will be competing in separate events at the games.

Early this morning Sarah Beaudry of the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club raced to a 29th place finish with the women’s 15 K biathlon.  Beaudry missed just one shooting target in her race and was second among the four Canadians entered.

Later today, Prince George’s Meryeta O’Dine will make her Olympic debut.  She’s competing in the women’s snowboard cross event. The qualification round starts at 5:00 pm pacific time tonight, followed by the quarters, semis and the final which gets underway at 7:15 pm.

Four Prince George athletes have qualified for the Winter Olympics.  The list includes Beaudry, O’Dine, biathlete Megan Tandy and Tiana Gairns who is an alternate in ski-cross.
