Cause Determined For St. John Hospital Flood

VANDERHOOF – Work to restore Vanderhoof’s St. John Hospital is now underway. The cause of the flood that took place last weekend was a failed hot water heater on the hospital’s second floor.

The operating room and post-surgical recovery areas were impacted the most, while the labour and delivery and sterile processing departments only suffered some damage. The facility’s emergency department, inpatient areas, oncology services, laboratory and medical imaging departments remain fully operational.

Northern Health expects the preparation for reconstruction to take about three weeks. Once that’s underway, they will have a better understanding of how long the work will take.
