PRINCE GEORGE — While there was mention of helping municipalities prepare for legalized marijuana in the Throne Speech, there was no mention in the budget.
Mayor Lyn Hall says the clock is ticking, with pot set to become legal July 1st, to get municipalities ready.

“We hope and think and are taking for granted that we’re going to get that information to us by the Province over the next 30 to 45 days,” says Hall. “We’re nearing in on July 1st and we have a number of things to do. It impacts our Development Services, it impacts our Bylaw Services, it impacts our RCMP.”

There are also questions about how much of the taxes from pot do municipalities get.

There was the 75-25 split when the Province and the Feds had their conversation. So now we’re interested in knowing what’s our split? What kind of revenue can we see as a municipality?
