Local Biathlete Helps Canada To 10th Place Finish

Prince George’s Sarah Beaudry got the call for Canada, and helped the women’s biathlon team to a 10th place finish in the 4×6 kilometre relay this morning.

Beaudry was chosen in place of Prince George’s Megan Tandy, who has been sick with a fever throughout the Olympics.

The Canadian team finished with a time of 1:13:36.8, which was 1 minute and 33 seconds off of Belarus’ gold medal pace.

This was the last event at the Olympics for athletes from Prince George.

Beaudry, who was competing in her first Olympics, also earned a 29th-place finish in the 15 kilometre individual race. This was the third and final Olympics for Megan Tandy, who only got to race once because of her fever. Tandy finished 57th in the 7.5 kilometre sprint on the opening day of the Games.
