PRINCE GEORGE- A new report shows Canadians are becoming more thrifty. On average, those who sell their used items are making about $1134 a year. UNBC Business professor, Charles Scott, says buying used items on things like the Facebook Marketplace help our local economy. “The more we can get people finding what they want locally, the more money stays in our community.”

Canadians say the top reasons to buy used items are economic, environmental, and the thrill of the hunt.

“It’s the hunt. It’s the look on peoples faces when they find that treasure that they’ve looked so long for,” says Jo Anne Pecora, who has an antique store at A Butler’s Market.

The report says 2.3 billion items were given a second chance in the country last year.
