HIGHLIGHTS: Brar The OT Hero As Spruce Kings Win Game 5

PRINCE GEORGE – The referees took away Ben Brar’s go-ahead goal late in the 3rd period, but there was nothing they could do about his overtime winner.

Brar was sprung on a partial breakaway midway through the first overtime period and was initially stopped, but then got the puck back in front and buried to seal the Spruce Kings 3-2 game 5 victory over the Chilliwack Chiefs.  The win gives the Mainland Division regular season champions a 3-2 series lead.

It was some sweet redemption for Brar, who found the back of the net on a Spruce Kings 5-on-3 with about 6 minutes to go in the 3rd period.  But the goal was called off due to goalie interference, much to the displeasure of the rowdy crowd at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.

Brar’s overtime heroics give the Spruce Kings the edge in the series heading into game 6, which goes Saturday night in Chilliwack. If necessary, game 7 will be back in Prince George Sunday night.
