MONTREAL – A new streaming platform showcasing films by Indigenous directors was launched today. Indigenous Cinema has more than 200 titles for people to choose from including, Nowhere Land by Bonnie Ammaaq and Two Worlds Colliding by Tasha Hubbard.

Although it’s still screening, The Road Forward by Marie Clements was partly shot in Prince George. It’s one of the top four performing films of the #Aabiziingwashi Indigenous cinema screening series. One of the songs in The Road Forward is called My Girl, which is based on the Highway of Tears.

Users can search stories by subject, director’s name or Indigenous people or nation. The website’s development is part of the National Film Board of Canada’s three-year plan to enhance the relationship between the creators and audiences. The website design is based on the original artwork by Eruoma Awashish, who is a graphic artist of Atikamekw and Quebecois heritage.
