No Decision On Marijuana Bylaw

FORT ST. JAMES – No decision was made after a heated district council meeting in Fort St. James Wednesday night. Council was expected to vote on a bylaw that would ban all recreational marijuana sales and production in the district of Fort St. James.

Mayor Rob MacDougall closed the meeting to the public after citizens yelled out from the gallery. Council denied the public’s requests to speak, citing that a public hearing that was open to voice concerns had already been held two weeks ago.

UPDATE

The council will make a final decision on the bylaw April 25. However, it may also establish a committee to examine appropriate regulations for the future.
