Cluculz Lake Residents Share Break And Enter Stories

CLUCULZ LAKE- Many Prince George residents have cabins out at the lake. The rural properties often go untouched over the winter months, making them sitting ducks for potential thieves. That’s a problem a few property owners at Cluculz Lake say they’ve experienced first hand, after a series of break-ins last week. Property owners say homes were broken into on Somerset Drive and Guest Road. Those who say their cabins were broken into shared their stories on the Cluculz Lake Friends News Facebook page, hoping to prevent thefts from happening to others. Luckily, they say the criminals were caught and arrested by RCMP.

Police say there is an upswing of break and enter reports in the springtime as property owners head to their cabins for the first time in months. “It would certainly help us to know the sooner that something happens and when information comes to our attention months later it’s going to be difficult to seek out that stolen property or locate the persons responsible,” said Cpl. Craig Douglass. Douglass recommends visiting your property throughout the winter months or setting up a security system but the most important way to stay safe is by forming a good relationship with your neighbours. “If you go out to check on your property and you have neighbours, go out and check on their property too and encourage them to do the same, that adds an extra set of eyes.”
