PG Walks For Autism Awareness

Apr 21, 2018 | 1:27 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – The 7th annual Prince George Autism Awareness Walk will be held this afternoon. Approximately one in 66 children and youth are diagnosed with autism in Canada, according to a report by the Public Health Agency of Canada. The 1.5 km walk from Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park to the start of Cottonwood Trail begins at 2:15 PM.

April has been a particularly impactful month for those with autism and their families in Prince George. Earlier this month Prince George became the first city in BC to have a spoke location to support those with autism. The spoke is connected back to The Pacific Autism Family Newtowrk hub in Richmond. There, they work to develop new programming and resources that can then be shared back to connecting spokes.

The goal of the walk is to educate the public about Autism Spectrum Disorder.
