Driver Arrested After Loaded Rifle Seized

PRINCE GEORGE – Twenty-nine-year-old local man, Clayton Angus Middlemiss was arrested after being pulled over Tuesday afternoon. He originally failed to stop for police earlier this month and was spotted near the intersection of 20th Avenue and Victoria Street Tuesday afternoon.

Police say they found and seized a loaded semi-automatic rifle, an amount of methamphetamine and marijuana from the vehicle.

Middlemiss has been charged by the BC Prosecution Service with unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, knowingly possessing a firearm without a licence, two counts of knowingly having a prohibited device without a licence, having a firearm without a licence, two counts of having a prohibited device without a licence, four counts of a having a weapon that dangerous to the public peace, transporting a firearm contrary to regulations, two counts of driving while prohibited, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and breaching probation.

Middlemiss was held in custody overnight and will make his court appearance today.
