Prince George firefighter takes last ride home

PRINCE GEORGE – Many of us look forward to the day when we retire. For one longtime Prince George firefighter, the memories of his last day will be with him into the next chapter of his life.

For those who he leaves behind the memories of his retirement day will strengthen the bond of his co-workers.

Assistant Chief Thad Kennedy is going on his last ride as a firefighter. He is completing his last duty from the same hall where he started nearly 30 years ago.

Building on a tradition that began five years ago Kennedy was recognized for his dedication to the team and his career.

At the end of his tour of duty Assistant Chief Thad Kennedy filled his bag with his gear and memories of some of the city’s biggest fires he will never forget.

Kennedy says the honour guard tradition helps him put closure to a career he loved and it shows the amount of comradery amongst the crew. Watch Video:

Nearly 50 comrades participated in the honour guard salute as now-retired Assistant Chief Thad Kennedy was driven home for the last time in a fire truck.
