Different display at Exploration Place

PRINCE GEORGE – In a break from tradition, Exploration Place has a display set up along the windows this holiday season, rather than on a tree in the atrium.

“This would have been its 25th anniversary,” laments Tracey Calogheros, Executive Director for the Exploration Place, referring to the giant Christmas tree that graced the atrium each Christmas.

Some of the ornaments on display have historic significance, while others have been left on the tree over time by anonymous donors.

“We like the stories behind them,” says Chad Hellenius. “We like the reason it had an impact on people.”

But he says, given COVID and the Exploration Place being closed, they still wanted some form of display.

“It was actually Tracey’s idea. I thought it was very fitting for this year. I mean, think of everything that’s been exhibited in windows these days because you can’t physically go in to see them.”

He and all the folks at Exploration Place are encouraging folks to swing by when they’re out.
