PRINCE GEORGE– Many people in the Ringette community know the name, Keith Sullivan. A longtime volunteer for PG Ringette, Sullivan was forced to step away from the game. As a result, the longtime coach, referee, and volunteer was forced to miss Zones and Provincials which inspired one girl to make special t-shirts to bring a piece of him to the Tournaments.

“One day my mom told me that he wasn’t going to come to our provincials and he’s always been to our provincials for my seven years playing ringette. I was sad that he wasn’t going to be here, so I wanted to make something up like a reminder of him, so he could always be there.” – Kylie Bespoyasny, Created Shirts for Keith.

And Kylie Bespoyasny wasn’t the only person Sullivan has had an effect on. Multiple people in the Ringette Community know his impact on the game here in Prince George.

“If you ask anybody who has been involved with Ringette, they’re going to ask you if you know Keith and they’re going to say yes. Keith started coaching when his daughters were young, and now he is coaching his granddaughters. So I can’t say for sure how many years he has been involved with the sport, but it’s been a long time.” – Georgina Scully, Involved with Ringette for 12+ Years

Stacy Furlong is another person Keith Sullivan has had an impact on. Going all the way back to when she was playing as a teenager.

“He’s been around since I was a kid, and he’s been reffing forever, coaching forever. He’s mentored me as a coach myself. He was around when I played, so I’ve had the experience of him as a player, as a coach, and also having him as a ref to ask all the questions too. He’s been great.” – Stacy Furlong, Known Kieth Sullivan since Grade 9

The U14 girls will be wearing shirts for Kieth when they head to their tournament this weekend. They plan to battle hard this weekend at provincials for their longtime coach and friend who is battling as well but appreciate the love and support from the Ringette Community.
