PRINCE GEORGE – Late last week, Prince George’s Advisory Committee on Council Remuneration met at City Hall. The advisory group is tasked with considering a request for a wage increase for the mayor and council.

The committee is considering a wage increase of between 1% and 6% for the mayor and councillors. One committee member says any potential raises would happen over four years, adding the committee is unanimous in its belief that a raise is warranted.

City councillors currently earn just over $42,000 per year, while the mayor earns just over $140,000. The next meeting for the committee is scheduled for December 18th.
