Two Cougars selected for Canada’s World Junior Camp

PRINCE GEORGE – Hockey Canada has named there 27 invitees to the World Junior selection camp and among them are two Prince George Cougars. Goaltender Josh Ravensbergen and Defenseman Carson Carels have both earned an opportunity to represent Canada at this years World Junior Hockey Championships.

Josh Ravensbergen is one of the best goalies in the WHL this season as the 2025 NHL first round pick of the San Jose Sharks has a 2.50 goals against average, a 921 save percentage and leads the WHL in wins with a 16-6-0 record for the Cougars. This isn’t Ravensbergen’s first taste of international competition as he previously attended the World Junior Summer Showcase each of the last two summers. For the North Vancouver product he is ready to get to work and show what he can do.

“It is super special to get that call I’m excited to go put my best foot forward and I can’t wait” said Ravensbergen.

Joining Ravensbergen is 17 year old defenseman Carson Carels as he continues a amazing second season with an invitation to camp. One of two underage skaters in camp Carels is currently producing at more then a point per game pace which has seen him rise up NHL draft boards with 29 points in 28 games on the season. Carels already has a wealth of international experience to lean on as he represented the CHL in the CHL/USA Top Prospects Challenge in November in addition to winning gold for Canada at the 2025 IIHF U18 Men’s World Championships.
