IIO Called In To Investigate Death Of A Quesnel Woman

The Independent Investigations Office of BC is investigating the death of a woman who was the alleged victim of an assault early Sunday morning.
RCMP were called to the 800 block of Front Street, at the Gold Pan Motel, where a report was filed of an assault by a male on a female.
The female victim was breaching a court imposed condition and was arrested by police.
She was taken to hospital for treatment, and was pronounced deceased on Monday.
Witnesses say a room at the motel had been blocked off by police tape on Sunday and into Monday morning.
Two people have been arrested in connection to the now homicide of the female.
The IIO will review the actions of police for the initial assault investigation and subsequent arrest, to determine whether they had a role in the woman’s death.
Witnesses are asked to call the IIO with any information.
