Unemployment Rate Drops

The latest unemployment numbers are revealing a slight drop in the rate in Prince George and in the Cariboo region.
When comparing on a year to year basis, the September unemployment rate has fallen nearly a half of a percentage point in Prince George to 5.7 percent. Statistics Canada says over that time period, the number of people employed has also rose by about 1,400.
The news is similar in the Cariboo region where the number of people employed has increased by about 3,700 as the rate fell 9/10ths of a point to 6.3%.
Nationally the month to month rate remained stable at 6.2%, although 1o,ooo new fulltime jobs were added. The provincial rate edged down to 4.9% from 5.1% in August.
