Festival Of Trees Prepares For Its 24th Year

The Festival of Trees is the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser. The 10-day event helps raise money for hospital equipment in the North. Volunteers were hard at work this afternoon, putting the finishing touches on each tree. Most of them sticking to this year’s theme “Merry and Bright”, but others are in a league of their own. The Prince George Fire Dispatch tree is one of those trees, decorated like National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. “We just wanted to have fun this year,” said Christine Halovich, “instead of a tree standing up, we had it on top of a car.”

A new addition to this year’s festival is a silent auction for tiny homes. “It’s anything like bat houses, bird houses, and the items that have come in are so fun and creative,” said event coordinator, Allison McCray, “They can be bid on throughout the 10-day event.”
