Prince Rupert Mounties Target Drunk Drivers

Mounties in Prince Rupert managed to make local roads safer with its ICBC CounterAttack campaign this month.

On December 2nd, police found one driver who failed a roadside breathalyzer test and another person who refused to provide a breath sample.  Both drivers were banned from driving for 90 days and had their vehicles impounded for 30 days.  4 additional drivers were issued notices and orders for lesser offences.

Mounties says drivers in Prince Rupert and beyond should expect to see police road checks over the holiday season.

ICBC says impaired driving continues to be a leading cause of deadly crashes.  An average of 66 people are killed across B.C. annually in crashes tied to impaired driving.
