Cougar Lose, Split Victoria Doubleheader

Matthew Phillips scored twice as the Victoria Royals snapped a four-game losing streak with a 7-1 win over the visiting Prince George Cougars Thursday.  Dino Kambeitz, Spencer Gerth, Tyler Soy, Jeff de Wit and Jeremy Masella also scored for the Royals.

Josh Maser scored the lone goal for the Cougars who had won the opening game of the weekday doubleheader 5 – 3 Wednesday.

Former Cariboo Cougar Griffen Outhouse made 23 saves before leaving the game late in the third period.   Prince George’s Taylor Gauthier allowed seven goals on 24 shots.

The Cougars will be in Vancouver over New Year’s, facing the Giants Saturday night and then Monday afternoon.
