PRINCE GEORGE — Premier John Horgan used the Natural Resources Forum to launch the Mining for Miracles fundraising campaign for BC Children’s Hospital. That involves mining companies and their employees raising money for programs at BC Children’s Hospital.
The goal this year is $1.25 million this year to complete the development of the TRACE, a $2.9 million initiative. TRACE will provide children across BC with personalized medicine using the patient’s own cells to prevent rejection of organ transplants, kill cancer cells and fight infection.
Once completed, the TRACE Program will help 40 to 50 children with kidney transplants every year, help 250 children living with organ and bone marrow transplants be replacing invasive biopsies, provide a new form of treatment for children with relapsed leukemia and position BC Children’s Hospital as a leader in clinical cell therapies.
