PRINCE GEORGE – The heavy snow brought an early end to a Via Rail train travelling from Terrace to Prince George Wednesday.  Via Rail says the train, which was carrying 30 passengers, has been forced to remain at a siding near Endako since approximately 10:00 pm Wednesday night.

It says the train was stranded because of heavy freight train traffic, caused by the heavy snowfall in the region.

Four passengers managed to find alternative transportation methods on their own.  A passenger bus is expected to arrive at the train around 3:00pm Thursday afternoon and ferry the 26 remaining passengers to Prince George.

Via Rail says it has been providing passengers with food and has made a building near the train available to those who want to stretch their legs.
