Nechako River’s Chinook Stock Too Low To Collect Eggs

PRINCE GEORGE – Without the ability to pull Chinook salmon eggs out of the Nechako River, the urgency to restore the population of the fish is high.
The Spruce City Wildlife Association is running their hatchery program with Chinook Salmon eggs caught from the Quesnel River. The Spruce City Wildlife Association hopes to strengthen the stocks in the Nechako and Fraser Rivers with the eggs from the Quesnel River.  Two thousand eggs were brought in because the Chinook Salmon stock in the Nechako River was too low to collect eggs. The fish are scheduled to be released in the middle of May.
