PRINCE GEORGE – Reaction to the sale of the Connaught Motor Inn has been positive. The motel has been chained up since July of 2016 but has now been purchased by a Kamloops developer who is now gutting the rooms. Mayor Lyn Hall was mayor when the owners’ business licence was pulled.

“We were having some real concerns about the number of First Responder calls, ambulance and RCMP and fire. Seven hundred, plus, over a two-year period,” explains Hall. “That was a real concern of ours.”

That’s why Hall is so pleased with the sale.

“It’s a big relief for the City, it’s fantastic news because that particular corner is really key to some of the work that we’re doing downtown. It’s a busy corner, it’s the gateway into the downtown.”
