POWELL RIVER – Ben Berard’s powerplay goal at 13:40 of the second overtime period, lifted the Powell River Kings to a 3 – 2 victory over the Prince George Spruce Kings Monday night in Powell River.  Despite the loss, the Spruce Kings continue to lead the best of seven Coastal Division Final 2 games to 1.

The game winner came 52 seconds into the only powerplay in overtime.  Prince George’s Dustin Manz had been sent off with a minor and a misconduct for delivering a blow to the head.  The incident sent the Powell River player to the dressing room.  Neal Semanski and Kevin Obssuth scored goals in the first period for the home team.

Prince George fought back from the two-goal deficit to force overtime on goals by Jay Keranen in the second period and Kyle Johnson early in the third period.

Evan DeBrouwer stopped 52 shots in the Spruce Kings net while Matteo Paler-Chow made 40 saves for Powell River.
