PRINCE GEORGE — Forests Minister Doug Donaldson opened the Council of Forest Industries convention this morning, where hundreds of industry reps have gathered for the two-day event.

It is the largest COFI gathering in Prince George in more than a decade.

The Chair of Canada’s Committee on Canada – US Relations Marc Garneau spoke to a packed crowd at the COFI convention about the softwood lumber dispute. Garneau told delegates the federal government has initiated dispute resolution measures with both NAFTA and the World Trade Organization and fully believes it will win the trade war as it has in the past. However, there is no quick end in sight for producers. He says the price of lumber is the only thing keeping lumber producers out of a crisis.
