Short Time Frame To Effectively Prevent Beetle Kill

PRINCE GEORGE- The Douglas Fir beetle population has been growing in Prince George, and the critters are expected to start attacking more trees once temperatures rise next month. That’s why residents are asked to protect the fir trees on their properties by purchasing repellant. Industrial Forestry Services has partnered with a few organizations in the city to provide Beetleblock-MCH for just one dollar a pod. The repellant gives off pheromones that deter the beetles from burrowing in the bark. It’s most effective when used before the end of April, as the bugs will start looking for new trees mid-May.
