Emergency Preparedness Week

May 8, 2018 | 12:28 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – It’s an annual event that takes place each year during the first full week of May and is an opportunity to encourage Canadians to take action to be better prepared during emergencies.

It’s Emergency Preparedness Week and this year’s message contains three ideas, knowing your risks,  making a plan,  and getting together an emergency kit.   Here in Prince George, the main concerns are around flooding and forest fires.

Emergency Preparedness Week will also see testing of an updated national alert system.

Alert Ready will be sending a test to most cell phones and devices Wednesday at 1:55 pm local time. Television and radio will be included.
