FORT ST. JAMES – A newborn and its mother are reported to be fine after RCMP were called to a home in Tachie on Sunday. Police say a woman had unexpectedly given birth and the baby did not appear to be breathing.

The officer, Constable Sanders, had arrived before paramedics did and performed CPR. Shortly after, the baby began to breathe and moved its arms. The mother and baby were then transported to the hospital.

“After hearing of Constable Sanders involvement in saving this baby’s life I couldn’t be more proud, said Corporal Jeff Raffle, FNP NCO in charge, Fort St James RCMP.” “He reacted under extreme stress and, as a result, saved a life.”
