PRINCE GEORGE – The City of Prince George continues to keep an eye on local rivers and streams. Some of the trails in Cottonwood Island Park are covered in puddles and flowing water due to the increased water level of the Nechako River.

The City has closed the island in Cottonwood Island Park due to the rising water. City crews continue to monitor the storm drain system near the river and place signs to warn park goers of the affected trails.

Signs and barricades have been put in place at locations including the Replica Bridge and the one recently built in the west end of the park. The canoe launch and a small area north of Railway Bridge is also blocked.
