Homeowners Eligible To Delay Property Taxes

VICTORIA – Some BC homeowners may be eligible to delay their property taxes with a provincial low-interest loan program. Homeowners who are 55 years or older, a surviving spouse, persons with disabilities or families with children are all eligible for deferment. To delay your property taxes, you have to apply each year for either the Regular Program or the Families with Children Program. The Province will charge interest on your tax deferment loan – 1.2 percent for the Regular program and 3.2 percent for the Families with Children Program. When your home is sold, the deferred taxes and interest will be paid.
