Little Prince A No-Go For Long Weekend

It’s a common tradition for the May long weekend that will not be happening this year.

Each year, the Little Prince train begins its summer on the first long weekend of the year. The 106-year-old wood-fired steam engine was used to help build the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. Today, it takes people on rides around Lheidli Tenneh Memorial Park over the summer months. But according to Tracy Calogheroes with Exploration Place, which oversees the train, the Little Prince needs new shoes, brake shoes, that is.

“Well, actually, Allan, the Supervisor for BC North for CN was down here yesterday and they think they’re going to be able to take an existing part and re-fit it somehow,” says Tracy Calogheroes, CEO for Exploration Place.

But it means the little train is in pieces in its shop and will not be on the tracks to give people rides this coming weekend and there is no date in mind when that may happen.
