Each month, the folks from Emterra pick up thousands of blue boxes. The City of Prince George has roughly 58,000 boxes, two per household, collecting paper and plastic. Recycle BC is visiting communities, ours included.

“For the most part, I think people are really happy with the service. I think, after two years, there’s a core group that really using it well. Certainly, the contamination rate here in Prince George is one of the lowest in the province, if not THE lowest in the province,” explains Allen   Langdon, Managing Director of Recycle BC. “We’re up here talking to a variety of constituencies, trying to figure out how to get more participation.”

BC has about a 65% participation rate, compared to the 85% participation rate in other jurisdictions.
