Canada’s Pangos excelling for Lithuanian team, which won EuroLeague bronze
Fans in Belgrade’s Stark Arena were up on their feet from the opening tipoff, and they never sat down. They were loud and proud, and unlike any polite NBA crowd.
Kevin Pangos was blown away.
The 25-year-old guard went where few Canadians have gone when he starred for Zalgiris Kaunas at the EuroLeague Final Four championships in Serbia last weekend, the Lithuanian team’s first appearance in the prestigious tournament in 19 years.
“All the fans were crazy loud . . . they’re standing the whole game and yelling. It was really neat. It was a really cool atmosphere,” Pangos said.
