PRINCE GEORGE – For the third year in a row, UNBC’s community radio station, CFURadio 88.7FM is offering their Youth Academy this summer. Youths aged 14 to 18 will have a chance to learn about audio, podcasting, radio broadcasting and the technical skills behind it during the 10-day radio camp starting June 4th. By the end of it, each camper will create their own hour-long radio program.

Payment for the camp is based on each camper’s financial situation with a range from $40 to $400. CFUR will be offering three sessions over the summer until July 27th.

“Youth everywhere have a voice, we’re trying to show them how to turn their volume up. In this ever-changing media landscape, it’s important for those who are interested in pursuing a future in this discipline to accumulate as many skills as possible and positive mentorship is key in that,” said Station Manager, Ian Gregg. “Everybody has a passion. It might be bugs, track & field, drawing, string-theory, or it might be radio. You’ll never know unless you’re allowed to try!”
