SD57 Approves 2018-2019 Budget

PRINCE GEORGE- It’s being called a ‘good news budget’ by Board of Education trustees. School District 57 has approved the 2018-2019 budget of 165.7 million dollars. The money will ensure it’s business as usual, all program and staffing needs will be met. 800 thousand dollars has been set aside for additional resources, like recruitment and retainment of teachers, and support for schools in Mackenzie, Valemount, and McBride to travel to school events. The district is also running a surplus from June 2017, that will be used to fund one-time purchases including a commitment of 500 thousand dollars for the replacement of Kelly Road Secondary School.
