Wildfire Attack Forces Highway 39 Closure

Jun 16, 2018 | 7:39 PM

MACKENZIE – Wildfire officials have closed Highway 39 to attack a wildfire burning in the area.  The closure will allow a aerial bomber to safely make drops on the fire.

RCMP released news of the closure shortly before 7:00pm Saturday evening.  Mounties say the length of the closure is undetermined.  They’re also asking people in the area to stay away from the area of the closure for their own safety.

The highway is closed near the Lyons Bay entrance.  Highway 39 is the lone highway connecting Mackenzie to Highway 97.
