VANCOUVER – To help make sport and recreation activity more accessible, viaSport and its partners are giving $100,000 to eight organizations throughout northern BC.

Five of the recipients are in Prince George and they include Engage Sport North Society, Prince George LumberJacks Wheelchair Basketball Club, Caledonia Nordic Ski Club, Northern Adapted Sports Association and the Prince George Rugby Club. Funding will also be going to Special Olympics BC Smithers, Special Olympics Williams Lake and the Lakeside Multiplex in Burns Lake.

“Every community in northern BC is diverse and unique,” said Sheila Bouman, CEO of viaSport. “Our goal is to empower local champions and increase accessibility to sport and recreation based on the specific needs and realities of their community.”

This support will bring impactful change for people with disabilities in these northern communities when providing sport, recreation and physical activities.
