PRINCE GEORGE – A local Métis artist is saddened by the limited amount of art supplies in Prince George. Lynette La Fontaine loves showing off her work at local artisan fairs, the problem is, the supplies for much of her art is far from local.

“As an artist, I often have to buy my art supplies outside of Prince George, either online or in other cities such as Vancouver, we have very limited stock in town. I try to support local, but of course, we have to pay a little more and stock is limited,” says Lynette La Fontaine, Métis Artist.

Commercial hides, furs, specialized needles and threads are some of the products La Fontaine searches for.

One PG art supply store is trying to keep up with the growing number of artists searching for unique materials. Ridge Side Art owner Christina Watts says she’s open to suggestions from customers and continues to bring in and find specialty items.
