Prince George to Pittsburgh: Former Cat Drafted By Pens

An exciting moment for a past member of the Prince Geirge community over the weekend. Justin Almeida, who spent a season with the Cariboo Cougars and then parts of 3 seasons with the Prince George Cougars. ALmeida had his number called over the weekend in the NHL Draft. The Kitimat native spent this season with the Moose Jaw Warriors, where he picked up 92 points in 72 regular season games. The former Cat was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 5th round, 192nd overall. The 5’9″, 159 lbs forward has big offensive opportunity build into his small frame. The 19 year old was in his second year of draft elegibility and NHL Central Scouting rated him the 88th-best North American skater in the draft.
